POND FISHING NOTICE
We had a significant fish kill in the Upper Pond during last week. On Saturday, July 8, 2017, we removed 110 dead fish from the pond. More than 25 were over 20 inches in length, and included Largemouth Bass, Catfish, and grass carp. Ten more large fish were removed from the pond on Monday, July 10, 2017. Water samples have been taken from the pond and will be processed by Reliance Laboratories, Inc. in an effort to determine the cause of the fish kill.
In the meantime, a catch and release only policy is in effect until further notice.
DO NOT CONSUME ANY FISH TAKEN FROM OUR POND DURING THIS INTERIM PERIOD.
We will issue the results of the laboratory tests as soon as possible.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
THE POND COMMITTEE
July 12, 2017
The Jefferson County Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America is a members-only organization located in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, approximately one hour from Washington D.C. Established in 1947, the club owns 97 secluded acres which include ponds, trap shooting and skeet fields, rifle, pistol and 3-D archery ranges. The club is an NRA affiliate. The clubhouse is heated and air conditioned, has seating for over 75, and has a fully equipped kitchen. Meals are served at monthly meetings and at registered events. Meetings are held the third Tuesday of every month.
If the electronic gate will not open due to a power outage, members may exit the club using the double metal gate, as the code on the lock always matches that on the keypad.
Inclement Weather Notice
If school is cancelled due to weather on a day when a regular monthly IWLA meeting is scheduled, that meeting will be cancelled and business held over to the following month.
