Kid’s Fishing Day
This year’s fishing derby will be held Saturday, June 5, 2021, co-sponsored by the Jefferson County Parks and Recreation and the IWLA . The derby will be held at the IWLA Upper Pond from 8:00-10:00 a.m., followed by the awards ceremony 10:00-11:00 a.m. The Pond will be closed to member use for the duration of this event.
Special Notice: All contestants must pre-register with the Jefferson Parks and Recreation Commission, either online (www.jcprc.org), by phone(304)728-3207, or fax (304)728-9746.
The number of contestants will be limited to 125, so be sure to register your children or grandchildren as soon as possible.
To be eligible for the derby, kids must be at least 2 years of age and less than 14.
The fishing derby participants will be divided into two age categories: Ages 2-6 and Ages 7-13.
Prizes will be awarded in each age category as follows:
(A) Biggest Fish: First Place, Second Place, and Third Place
(B) Most Fish : First Place, Second Place, and Third Place
(C) Master Angler Award: Any contestant who catches all five kinds of fish in the Upper Pond – (Bass, Bluegill, Catfish, Crappie, and Yellow
Perch)
In addition, there will be other prizes awarded as well as door prizes.
